AM I WRONG FOR CHOOSING MY DOG OVER MY BROTHER’S WEDDING?
I have a brother who got married last week, and unfortunately, I had to cancel attending at the last minute because my dog ran out into the street and got hit by a bike.
This happened just a few hours before the wedding. Someone didn’t close the door properly, and my dear dog, Lila, got hurt. Of course, I rushed her to the vet. It turned out she had a broken leg that required surgery. I was shocked and couldn’t leave her. The surgery was successful, and they even allowed me to take her home with medication and instructions on how to care for her. My brother’s wedding was starting in two hours, just as Lila was waking up from anesthesia at home.
I called my brother and explained everything. I also apologized for not being able to attend his wedding because I needed to take care of Lila, who is like a child to me. A few days went by, and now my family is upset with me for not showing up, saying I should have just hired a dog sitter. But I didn’t want to trust a random person or even someone I know with such responsibility. Plus, I believe Lila was scared and in pain after everything she went through, and she needed me.
So, am I in the wrong for missing my brother’s wedding to take care of my dog?
